Whether you live in Crystal Beach, spend your weekends on the Bolivar Peninsula, or are discovering the area for the first time, the lighthouse deserves a place on your local-history list.
A Lighthouse with a Story
First lit in November 1872, the lighthouse guided mariners until its retirement in 1933. Its history also includes sheltering people during the hurricanes of 1900 and 1915. Those stories make this familiar coastal landmark especially meaningful.

Seeing the Bolivar Point Lighthouse Today
If you have not driven by recently, take a look at the restoration progress. The foundation reports that exterior repainting is finished, bringing back the lighthouse’s original black-and-white stripes. Stabilization and restoration of the cast-iron entry door are also completed milestones, while preservation efforts continue.
